Why support mission partners?

At Ann Street, we believe that the gospel spiritually transforms, it brings people from darkness to light. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we become part of the kingdom of the Son (Colossians 1:21-23).

We recognise the value of partnerships. We seek to support and work with mission partners who take this good news across the street and across the world. We cannot personally evangelise street kids in Bangkok or establish new churches in Slovenia. However, we come alongside these mission partners, supporting their efforts. Our role includes providing encouragement, prayer, and financial assistance. We work together as we long to see God’s kingdom grow.

Our mission partners take the gospel to different parts of the world and Australia. We encourage our church family to find out more about our mission partners so that we can partner through prayer. You can find out more about our mission partners and what to pray by receiving the prayer updates from our mission partners (sign up here).

We have two kinds of mission partners that we support. The first we simply call ‘Mission Partners’ or ‘Helen Margaret Young Partners’ and the second we call ‘Sent Mission Partners’:

Mission Partners

Mission Partners are supported by the congregation through the missions giving component of our church budget. This part of our church budget has been name the Helen Margaret Young Missions Fund (HMYMF) in honour of a former member of our church who was passionate about missions - Helen Young.

How can I support a mission partner?

  • By giving to church. A percentage of all donations to church goes to the Helen Margaret Young Mission Fund. That means when you give your offering at church, a portion goes to every Mission Partner listed below.

  • Through the Missions Stall. All the proceeds of a missions stall goes to the HMYMF and therefore to these Mission Partners.

  • If you would like to give even more to a particular mission partner, you can give directly to a mission partner. Details for giving to a missions partner can be found in their newsletter (sign up here).

‘Sent’ Mission Partners

The second kind of mission partners we call ‘Sent Mission Partners’. They are those partners raised here within Ann Street and ‘sent’ from within us. As a church, we have a special responsibility to these partners. Therefore, they receive more significant financial support as we are their ‘sending church’.

How can I support a ‘sent’ mission partner?

  • By giving directly to the ‘sent’ mission partner. Donations must be made directly to them. You can find information about giving to a ‘sent’ mission partner through their newsletter (sign up here). Please note: we do not give money from the Helen Margaret Young Mission Fund to ‘sent’ mission partners.

  • Dollar-matching contributions through the Ann Street Trust. All donations given to a ‘sent’ mission partner are dollar-matched by the Ann Street Trust. Please note: You do not need to do anything to trigger the dollar-matching. We organise this with the ‘sent’ mission partner.
